Sharpening of enhanced backscattering peak in a disordered gain medium.

چکیده
We study theoretically the phenomenon of enhanced backscattering ~EBS! from a bulk disordered gain medium due to the presence of a dye and a pump beam. We show that the presence of the gain, in combination with the effect of saturation, can dramatically sharpen the EBS peak function. In the particular case of a point source incidence for the probe beam along with the presence of a plane-wave pump beam, the EBS approaches a d function in angular space.

Dynamics of random laser and coherent backscattering of light from ZnO amplifying random medium
We investigated the dynamics of coherent backscattering cone and random laser in a disordered gain medium of ZnO powder. Theoretical fit to the coherent backscattering cone yields a transport mean free path l approximately equal to the probe wavelength , indicating that the scattering process is in the strong scattering regime. Supernarrow emissions from the laser are accompanied by enhancement...
متن کاملObservation of Raman Gain in Reduced Length of Bismuth Erbium Doped Fiber
Raman amplification of a 49 cm Bismuth oxide (Bi2O3) as a nonlinear gainmedium based erbium doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) is reported in new and compactdesign in near infrared spectral regions. The bismuth glass host provides theopportunity to be doped heavily with erbium ions to allow a compact optical gain fiberamplifier design by using reduced fiber length and the 1480...
متن کاملNonlinear coherent transport of waves in disordered media.
We present a diagrammatic theory for coherent backscattering from disordered dilute media in the nonlinear regime. We show that the coherent backscattering enhancement factor is strongly affected by the nonlinearity, and we corroborate these results by numerical simulations. Our theory can be applied to several physical scenarios such as scattering of light in a nonlinear Kerr medium or propaga...
متن کاملAlternate formulation of enhanced backscattering as phase conjugation and diffraction: derivation and experimental observation
Enhanced backscattering (EBS), also known as weak localization of light, is derived using the Huygens-Fresnel principle and backscattering is generally shown to be the sum of an incoherent baseline and a phase conjugated portion of the incident wave that forms EBS. The phase conjugated portion is truncated by an effective aperture described by the probability function P(s) of coherent path-pair...
متن کاملIncreasing the conversion efficiency of dye-sensitized TiO2 photoelectrochemical cells by coupling to photonic crystals.
The mechanism of enhancing the light harvesting efficiency of dye-sensitized TiO(2) solar cells by coupling TiO(2) inverse opals or disordered scattering layers to conventional nanocrystalline TiO(2) films has been investigated. Monochromatic incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency (IPCE) at dye-sensitized TiO(2) inverse opals of varying stop band wavelengths and at disordered titania ...
